Still so much to be thankful for…

To our Silverpoint Family,

I must admit that when I was asked to write a Thanksgiving post, the words did not immediately flow from my keyboard.  I had to really pause and think about what I am thankful for in a year that has been so challenging.  However, after some reflection and prayer, I realized that there is still so much to be thankful for.

In a year that has featured a global pandemic that aggressively attacks the senior population, a nation steeped in social unrest, a volatile political environment, and a never-ending sensation of wondering what else could possibly go wrong, I am still thankful for many things:

  • I am thankful that in these uncertain times, I am still surrounded by people whom I love and care for and knowing that they love and care for me in return.  I am thankful that our SilverPoint family has truly stood side by side to fight this fight every single day.

  • I am thankful that SilverPoint has the opportunity to make every day special and meaningful for our residents who have been entrusted to our care.  We love our residents as if they were our own family.  I am thankful to the families who have entrusted them to our care and want to ensure them that we are doing everything possible to keep their loved one happy and safe.

  • I am thankful that in the midst of the social unrest that has occurred we have been able to express love and support to many of our team members who have felt the impact of racism firsthand.  It is my prayer that they have felt loved, valued, and heard by their SilverPoint family.

Finally, I am thankful that it appears that a vaccine is coming in the near future and hopefully the day is not far off when we can return to somewhat of a normal life where we can once again open our doors with a smile on our face that you can clearly see, enjoy meals, events, and laughter together in our communities, and feel the warm embrace of those we love so much.

Wishing all a thankful thanksgiving this year.
