Covid-19-Phase 1 Update.

I know that many of you have been inquiring about the status of the Phase 1 Visitation program established by the State a few weeks ago.

We are all anxious for you to be able to come and visit your loved ones as soon as possible.  However, the steps involved in actually moving forward with the visitation has been much more cumbersome than anyone expected.

As I noted in my earlier update, although HHSC had issued the order regarding the Phase 1 Visitation, the guidelines were not sent out until the following week regarding how the visitation booth should actually be constructed.  Once we received the guidelines, we were also made aware that not only do we have to meet the HHSC guidelines, in order to move forward with the Phase 1 implementation, each county and local health authority must also approve the Phase 1 visitation for their local areas. The good news is, as of this week, the week of August 28th, 2020, all counties where we have a community have moved forward with approving the Phase 1 implementation.

The final step in the process is now getting HHSC approval for each individual community by a representative of HHSC.

We are submitting both our visitation booth construction elements as well as our policies and procedures for the actual visitation.

Once this is approved, we can begin scheduling visits for our family members.  Our teams will be reaching out to their family members individually to inform you of how it will work in your loved one’s community.

*Please note that the Phase 1 Visitation Plan is completely based on no active COVID-19 positive cases by either a resident or staff member for at least 14 days.  If a case is confirmed, we must immediately suspend the visitation until we get clearance from the State.

Thank you so much for being patient with us as we have walked through this process.  Please know that we are taking an abundance of caution to protect the heath of all of our residents while at the same time trying to get you face-to-face time with your loved one as soon as possible!

Sincerely-
Shawn Corzine
