Doing What is Right, Not What is Easy.

To the Families and Friends of our Wonderful Residents,

The Coronavirus has seemingly reached into every area of our lives over the past couple of months.  It has been incredibly heartwarming to see the response of our country in praising the work of real-life superheroes that are working on the front lines of battling this virus.  Although our team members may not be in the heat of the battle like doctors and nurses serving in hospitals, I still think that they are superheroes by the way they have made rigorous efforts to diligently protected all the residents in our communities.

As of today, April 24th, 2020 at 1:00 PM, I am proud to announce that we still have zero confirmed cases of COVID-19 with either residents or team members in any of our communities.  That, however, does not mean that our battle is over!

In my weekly updates, I have been highlighting some of our SilverPoint Core Values and how they influence the decisions and actions we take during this pandemic.  Today, I would like to highlight our Core Value of Integrity, where we do what is right, not what is easy.

I’ll be honest, the measures we have put into action over the past weeks have in no way been easy, but they were the right things to do.

Here are just a few or the new standards implemented:

  1. Rigorous disinfecting measures above and beyond our normal cleaning schedules

  2. Taking and recording the temperature of every team member that comes onto a shift to ensure that they remain healthy.

  3. Making sure that all our caregiver shifts are covered while many of our team members have small children at home with no childcare available.

  4. Limiting all outside vendors and healthcare providers.

  5. Making sure that our residents stay engaged while still promoting social distancing.

  6. Delivering hot and delicious meals to apartments rather than serving in the dining room.

Although these things might not be easy tasks to carry out, they are the right thing to do in light of our current world situation.

I also want to point out the most difficult sacrifice of all through this time, which involves a heart-wrenching sacrifice on your part as well—limiting in-person visits form all family members and loved ones.  I cannot imagine some of the feelings that many of you have being separated from your loved one during this time.  Although it is certainly not easy, it is the right thing to do at this time.

I want to thank you for the partnership we have in this endeavor.  Our hearts ache along with yours.  For this reason, continued efforts to create opportunities for you to connect with your loved are top of mind. We invite you to engage in one of the outlets we have available, either via Zoom calls, visits through the window of an apartment, or drive by parades where you can wave and share words of affection.

I will commit to you that we will continue to act with Integrity and do what is right now what is easy as we navigate through this time.  Hopefully we will be back to a new normal soon and you can once again enjoy a hug from your loved one.  Until then, thank you for living out this Core Value together with us!

Sincerely-

Shawn Corzine
